Yes, Japan's influence is reduced, but that is simply not true:
Wii Sports propelled the Wii to phenominal sales levels and is the greatest selling game of all time. If it wasn't for Wii Sports, the Wii would have nowhere near the marketshare it has now.
Brain Training/Age greatly expanded the DS to adult audiences and created a massive surge of popularity for it's genre.
Nintendogs acted as a 'killer app' for the DS in Europe (where over half of it's sales are from), the DS and PSP would be far closer if it wasn't for this game
Mario Kart Wii moves an insane amount of Wii software even to this day, and to think people thought this would prove no match for the 'Wii killer' GTA4
New Super Mario Bros Wii just did what it's predecessors did, sell shit loads
How do you explain the Wii's sales? It only got Pokemon and FF spin offs, which I highly doubt moved a lot of hardware and the Western support for it is frankly shit. Your post makes it seem like the Wii would've died a horrible premature death, selling less than the 360 or PS3.
