...why is this bad for WiiU? We have seen next to NOTHING about it, we still don't know its cost, its design, games, power, online, support, launch date etc., and yet the people who will buy it is NEARLY the same as the Vita, of which we know pretty much everything about, is launching in 6 weeks and is the sequel to a massive portable in Japan?

I know which position I'd rather be in

But, this is one poll on a very small number of people. Don't panic guys! The Vita will do just fine. It looks great, so it should sell great. Heck, if the PSP did, after it died almost everywhere else, I don't see why there's any issues, aside from lack of games.

Well, PSP died in Japan as well until the slim came around along with Monster Hunter.  We won't know much about the Vita until it launches.  The 3DS struggled until they finally lowered it to a resonable price and actually announced some more games.  Right now, Vita does need a few more hit titles.  But, it's too early to say the Vita will never have any at all.  I'm hoping they are securing a MH title.  But we never know if another thing may come along like Monster Hunter.  Each generation brings a franchise or two as another major franchise.

I don't think either console is doomed, but that seems to be a difficult position to hold around here.  It seems it's always a choice between Sony or Nintendo - very black and white.  This generation, we saw 4 of the 5 consoles in Japan have reasonable success (sorry, MS).  Sony and Nintendo switched places in the pecking order mid way through the generation.  If anything, this generation broke the rules that only one console can be significant.  Not just Japan, but worldwide.  I think that fact has made fanboys from all consoles uncomfortable and trying to philosophically figure out who the winners and losers are this generation.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
