Okay, first. As in all business of any kind before gaming. Some businesses are going to make some bad decisions or be it bad luck whatsoever and "forced" to close down. Why is gaming an exception? Yeah, sure, a few companies bankrupted due to reasons unknown and we jump in and blame piracy, used games, loaning, etc...
A game does not have to sell 700k to turn a profit if the game is not capable of reach that number. Have you thought maybe they overshoot their development and their game(s) just didn't meat expectation of the gamers.
Why do they have to find something/someone to blame when their business fail? Maybe the failure is in themselves? You know, that's quite high a possiblity.
The mentality that the customers are somehow to blame is really messed up.

But you can blame the retailers who put such a huge emphasis on used software and in turn cut your profitability by as much as half. GameStop is supposed to sell the companies new software yet they put the majority of their marketing budgets and finances towards pushing used sales which don't help the publishers and developers at all.

they they can choose to not support gamestop by not letting them sell their games. You act as though its the poor ole game industry. They are big boys and can make their own choices, if they choose to support gamestop by letting them sell their games that is their choice. If its such a problem for the industry why dont they choose to not sell to gamestop? They can also choose to harm their games in the eyes of consumers by placing online cards or first day dlc on the disk etc. Its their choice to make.
