Funny. Considering that the United Kingdom and Canada helped considerably in creating the atomic bomb for the United States, it wasn't just purely an American effort.
Plus the Soviets, Germans and Japanese already had their own Nuclear projects underway, the Western nations just happened to beat them to the punch by allocating more resources and working closesly with each other.
Hell... Even Albert Einstein was German-born, who contributed greatly to the manhatten project, the race to build Nuclear weapons might have been very different if Einstein never left Germany.
