There aren't that many games out now that are MP only, though, since most of them have some kind of single player component. If something goes wrong with the cloud service, you can't play any games. If your MP goes down on your console/physical game, you can still play other games if you have any.
I think that's why I love games like Dead Island, Borderlands and White Knight Chronicles. If the servers or your connection goes down, you can still make progress on your character that you use for MP.
