Then there's also Sony: Which is not going to give up one of their best franchises (right up with GT and GoW).

but  Sony also gave up the Crash Bandicoot IP which was way bigger than Uncharted...

Not sure if Sony owned them and back on the PS1 era, going into PS2; They really didn't need first party exclusives as much as now (considering the PS2 had quite an INSANE library). But we all know 3rd party exclusives are sort of dead now thus making first parties like Uncharted very important.
