GT obviously wouldn't be in it. I don't know why Uncharted and God of War characters wouldn't work after seeing Snake from Metal Gear in SSBB. Characters like Ganondorf and Link were from games that weren't very cartoony either.

Also, are you aware of SF X Tekken? Capcom doesn't seem to be having much trouble making Tekken characters more cartoonish. If you think they can work in a game like Tekken then it would only take some creativity and a some good artist to make them work in a smash like game.

GT wouldn't be in it? Despite being their best selling and most recognised franchise of all time? Well that's a good start. And yeah, Snake worked, but that's mostly because he was the only one of his "semi-realisticdness", I still think that the Snake from MGS1 was pretty cartoony, both gameplay and feel wise. Ganondorf and Link are a lot more cartoony than Kratos, Nathan Drake, Nathan Hale, Rico, Nahman Jayden, Cole, etc.

Again, I think it could work, but I just don't think they would be able to catch the essense of Smash Bros, which always came from the wide variety of vibrant characters to me. I love Sony, but I think that they too many realistic characters to make something like this work, and be actually fun.

And when I said Tekken like, I meant pretty much any kind of the "standard" 2D (or 3D in Tekken's case, but it's still basically 2D) figthers, which includes Street Fighter. I was talking about the fighting engine, not the cartoony characters when I said that.
