There's too much riding on this title for me. I'm sort of afraid of it releasing because I'm expecting way too much from it and I'm probably going to be disappointed. I kind of feel like this is the last thing I'm waiting for before moving away from gaming.

I'm getting to a point where I have to take my life more seriously. Gaming is a huge distraction from all these things that I need to prepare for. I've pretty much given up on a majority of things I play, and cut down on my playtime considerably. I've sold most of my collection, and at the moment, I only have three games: Gran Turismo 5, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection, and Resistance 3.

The Last Guardian symbolizes the last game that I will ever line up in front of a store for, although of course this isn't going to be necessary as it probably won't sell too much. Nonetheless, this game represents everything that is beautiful about games, and I guess lining up for it is more of a symbolic thing, a tribute of sorts, to a masterpiece in the making. After this game is released and I've played through it, I'm giving up games ultimately, because I want to end on gaming's highest achievement.

On the other hand, I have this terrible fear that this game might not live up to the expectations surrounding it. It might suck. It just might. Ueda and his team might not be properly acclimated to the PS3 architecture.  This thing could flop considerably and be a huge disappointment.

I feel kind of strange, like when you learn to give up playing with action figures as a kid. You're just looking forward to one more thing before you finally hang it up. Like a boxer looking for one more match and end on a high note before he retires. I realize I'm being overly emotional here. Well, the only way you can understand is if you play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus and receive the same impact that I got from those two things playing as a teen.

I just hope that The Last Guardian will be half as good as I expect it to be. Take all the time in the world. Delay it as much as you want. Just don't make it bad.
