I believe Nintendo unveiled the Vitality Sensor in 2009, so this might be as old, if not more. Some articles I found on Google mentioned something similar to this, but this seems a lot newer than those articles, since they mentioned only the Move and the pictures are a lot different.

phinch pointed out that the patent included the move controller. So it may not be too old. Should be interesting what comes out of it.
