Did they run towards you after you joined the covenant? Because that's a common glitch that occurs when you join the Forest Hunters and can only be solved by quitting and reloading the game after joining. 

And yes, Fuck Blighttown too

Yes, I noticed the whole game is a little glitchy. Still no patch... I also just lost 7000 souls and 13(!) humanity due to a one-hit kill by the Hellkite even though it could never even kill me in 3 hits before. Weird ass game. Somehow I'm still playing though!
