I remember being able to play starcraft on like a Pentium II. They just always made their games playable on the weakest architectures. Yeah, it's a little different now with all the effects and different settings you can adjust so nowadays I guess most PC games now can be customized to a certain extent to fit the weaker architectures. But I haven't been as involved in the PC world when that started to happen (mostly 3D gaming). One game I had a hard time getting to work on my PC was Final Fantasy VIII, but for games like starcraft, Diablo or Warcraft I rarely ever had any problems. |
FFVIII was a bitch to set up because it was a very, very shoddy optimization work. FFVII was better in that aspect. No one tops Blizzard when it comes to PC optimization, heck I can play WCI and Starcraft without having to resort to DOSBOX to play them, which is becoming increasingly rare these days for old school PC games.
