Gears 3 got the same score from Eurogamer (different reviewer).
All we can ask for from individual reviewers is consistency. If this reviewer is generally not a fan of cinematic, heavily story driven games then I expect 8/10 to be among the highest of scores he gives for games of this ilk.
It is a rather perennial question: Do review sites get reviewers to review games in genres they don't like, knowing that the review score will be somewhat lower than if a game is reviewed by a genre fan? Sometimes I think reviewers should state up front their genre bias (positive or negative) for the game they're reviewing so that people can calibrate with reviewer's opinions.
