So I didn't see the commercial when it aired on TV I have seen plenty of US Forces commercials recently that have borderlined lunacy. Simply put these new ads say that they are "Not Science Fiction Its what we do every day". Fact is a large amount of the latest commercials have featured technologies in development many of which are not in use at least officially speaking. But the latest commercial for the US Air Force goes way further then showcasing prototype technologies as what they do every day. In this latest commercial they say that they have new C-17 transport planes with fully rotating engines capable of landing on bridges with such accuracy that they don't even cause the bridge that is already collapsing to fall apart. Then when these planes take off they can transform into entirely different air craft.
Infact the US Air Force themselves acknowledge the ad through Christa D’Andrea, public affairs chief for the Air Force recruitment arm saying “This one was definitely more cinematic in the beginning,” adding “It’s a very cinematic, sci-fi sort of campaign.” The rep for the US Air Force also said “The C-17 would need to land on an airstrip,” She goes on to explain the motives behind the commercial "We’re trying to disprove that these certain technologies don’t exist. It’s a flying hospital [on a C-17], able to take care of people in a hospital in the air. It’s a unique mission that we do that people don’t hear about."
So do you think the US Military and Air Force have any right advertising these sci-fi things as "its not Science Fiction its what we do every day" Or is this a huge case of false advertising? I mean if the goal it to try and disprove that these certain technologies don't exist why would you show tons of technologies that in fact don't exist?
