Well Japanese Defense Ministry employee Fumiyuki Sato  unveiled a new drone. This new drone looks a lot like 343 Guilty Spark and while the current device lacks an AI system and actual computer on board. It does feature camera technology and flies around the room just like Guilty Spark does. Already comparisons are being made all over and the potential for this device to become Guilty Spark is great.

So just what is this new drone simply named Futuristic Circular Flying Object?

The device is capable of flight changing directions on a dime much like Helicopters but even more easily. The device can land on the ground rolling over almost any kind of terrain as well as rest against walls or up against the ceiling. Right now the device is controlled via a radio frequency which can be used at a great distance. The device is capable of streaming live video footage to the controller and can't really crash due to its spherical shape it shouldn't smash. This makes the device perfect for military applications which is obviously why the defense ministry is behind it.

The device is about the size of a basketball and was built with lightweight carbon and styrene components. The device is capable of flying with ease due to its light weight , it weighs in at a dismal 348 grams. It uses a total of 8 rudders, 16 spoilers, 3 gyro sensors and is powered entirely by Lithium Ion batteries.

At the moment the device only has enough power capabilities to maintain 8 minutes of flight time and can reach a maximum air speed of 37mph. The device is practically impossible to hear. Surprisingly Sato built the new Guilty Spark with a budget of only 1,400$ not using state of the art defense technology but common consumer electronics he bought from a local electronic retailer.

Among its military capabilities it is said that it could be used for search and rescue operations following major disasters. particularly the device could have been used during this years earth quake. The capabilities of this device are boundless and at only 1,400$ I am sure the Japanese Military could improve the device to make it way more capable at very little cost. So many drones these days cost far more then 1,400$ and those are built using bulk product and military contracts.
