Heh, I never once played a Final Fantasy game and enjoyed the story; it's like reading a comic book compared to reading a good novel. I thought FFX's story was bleh, but I guess my intense dislike of Tidus and Yuna really threw me off and made me not care.
EDIT - If you do play FFX through, play FFX-2 immediately. Just be prepared for one of the worst stories ever created, but luckily the gameplay was fun. I still can't bring myself to play more than 10 hours of it.
