I'm a non-militant atheist. I don't mind speaking up when people are trying to push their religion down my throat. However, I do get annoyed at other atheists that try to push their (lack thereof) religion in other people's throats.
For "God," if I go by the definition of their being an entity that can break natural laws - I would lean on the side that he / she doesn't exist. If there is enough evidence to come to a conclusion that he / she does exist - I'm open to that possibility. So maybe I'm 75% Atheist and 25% Agnostic. As of now, I don't see enough evidence of the existence of a god(s).
I was raised Christian (my parents were liberal Christians that didn't believe in any of the supernatural stuff in the Bible). I do think Jesus has lots of important things to say how we should treat each other. Unfortunately, many of the conservative Christians that I know put the Sermon on the Mount speech secondary to all the other stuff about going to hell / women's place in society, etc.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
