Spa is one of my favourite tracks, nice for GT5 to have it now.
About 2D backgrounds, I don't care much about them, those in GPL are really ugly, but they can't ruin a classic. And anyway, when RAM is limited, there's little devs can do, if they use more RAM for modeling better physics, car behaviour and appearance, tracks and weather, and to be able to have more cars in a race, they must save it elsewhere, particularly in the longest tracks, like Spa, Monza and Nurburgring. Obviously I expect newer PC racing sims, with minimum HW requirements far higher than GPL, to have far better backgrounds. But on current gen consoles compromises cannot be avoided, little main RAM limited their true potential and even old style programming tricks can't go beyond a certain limit, when the problem is not the instruction and function parts of the code, but the detail of object descriptions and the number of them to be loaded in RAM simultaneously.
