So PSV/PS3 cross platform. Do I have to own a PSV and a PS3 retail version of the game, or can I just buy one version, install the game on my PSV/PS3, and transfer the file to the other console to play it? you'll have to own both, but its one product so its 2 games in one, and all PS3Vita games will be available like that. its not bad marketing if you ask me. also if you download it i belive its one file for to games so your still only paying one price for 2 games, and publishers seem to be ok with it. so if you download it then it will be one game and transferable across both platforms. but at retail it will be 2 games in one box for one price.
I don't think the 360 will sell 0 million units in 2014. that's not how systems work. Sony still sells PS2's because there is demand. MS will still sell 360's as long as there is demand. You and I agreed before, there may no longer be first party exclusives to support the 360 after the next-box, but they will continue to sell it. MS won't support it so they will discontinue it so they focus on next gen so there will likly not be a 360 in 2014 demand or not.
After the PS4 and Next-Box release, 360 could fall faster. I'd rather not get into this debate because I know you have a solid opinion that PS3 will take longer to be discontinued, but I'm not sure. The only thing I can be sure of is PS3 will sell in rural areas for a long while because the PS4 won't be introduced into some areas 3-4 years after launch. However these sales will be minimal. agreed. your right about my stance on PS3 being on the market past 2016, but all i have to go on is Sonys continued push into more markets and how long the PS2 has lasted.
For Nintendo, they need to do a lot of things. NOA needs to localize more games, this has been an issue since the days of the NES (Final Fantasy III, V, and many other SNES exclusives, Fire Emblem Gameboy Wars, Earthbound, and now Last Story/XenoBlade). i'd hate to think i'd be done with the manufacture that brought me into the console space but if Wiiu is region locked and games don't get localized then i'm done with Nintendo for good. region lock alone would do it to be honest. its abandoning the plaform. there are many ways to do it and region locking is one of them and i will not own a 3ds because of it. Vita is not region locked. all games even if only released in Japan will be available via download WW.
As for quality of games, this is where my fanboyism kicks in. I always think Nintendo will deliver a good game in their franchise next gen. Sometimes they do, Mario Kart, Galaxy, Smash Bros, Donkey Kong, and Metroid Prime have all been great on the Wii. However sometimes they don't. When Gamecube first released, Nintendo released a short high resolution clip of a realistic Link fighting Gannon. The following Zelda became Cell Shaded. Also the quality of Mario Party has crashed since the N64. So seeing fake Pikmin 3 screens, and the beautiful Zelda Wii U trailer, and Ninja Gaiden 3 on the Wii U, has me a bit excited. yea i'm there but i'll wit to find out if Wiiu is region locked first.
One thing I know is when a new gen comes out, Nintendo always makes a good lineup at first, but most of those games either get delayed (3DS games for example) or turn out to be meh (Wind Waker compared to N64 Zelda's). agreed
Piracy isn't my thing either, but if NOA doesn't localize The Last Story and XenoBlade, I am importing and either moding my Wii, or buying a second Wii modded to play PAL games. I give them until The Last Story releases in EMEAA. sounds fare to me.
For Americas, Playstation isn't huge. Most casual gamers I know don't play playstation, only the hardcore do. Nintendo is well known, and MS is American. Just for being domestic it has a chance it could win Americas by a large margin, heck 360 looks like it could top Wii in Americas and has an outside chance of toping PS2! agreed but the PS brand is still well known in the U.S., so its not like the brand is dead. its just been hit hard and won't recover this gen. that said the 8th gen will be interesting to see. Nintendo is a bad example of a N64 to Wii turn around but it happened, and then here comes the speculation i so often leave at the door.
In the end, we can conclude that the PS360 war lives on. Just seeing the way MS carry themselves, I think if they wanted to, they could easily hold second place. However MS probably cares more about profit then 2nd place in sales. agreed and thats the way Sony talks but 2012 will prove whos bluffing who.

I'll have to look into the PSV/PS3 cross platform. It seems odd that they would package a Blu-Ray PS3 disk and a PSV cartridge in one package for these cross platform games. well check with MUGEN for more info and be sure to hit up the vita thread aswell.
I don't think MS will discontinue the 360 in 2012. Especially if it's still generating 5 million or more sales annually. MS cares about profit, and 360 being a successful image not only brings them $$$, but makes the brand look better. After all MS is the only current gen console to offer full backward compatibility on all consoles, Sony killed the PS2 by removing BC in PS3, and Wii is stopping BC to save on cost for future Wii's.
2012! who said anything about 2012? i thought we were talking about 2014. so your saying the furture Wiis or wiiu for example is going to do wht Sony did to PS3 which is cut backwards compatablilty to save cost? i'm going to have to over look that one cause it looks almost like an over looked contradiction.
For 2016 sales, PS2 is a different beast compared to PS3. I agree small developing gaming regions will still be importing PS3's, but it's only because PS4 won't be released there after some delay. and these regions are small in size. the major reason has nothing to do with a delay but price and i know you know that. yea they are different beast but Sony looks at them the same so its the only thing to look forward to when you look at it.
I hate region locking too. There is no purpose for it. I mean SNES game cartidges, although different in shape, were the exact same game underneight. Remove the casing, and it's region free. With disk based gaming, there is no more need to region lock, and NOA is really bad at localizing games. I already told you, the shit Nintendo and NOA have pulled on Wii is reason enough to skip the Wii U. Pikmin 3 was 85% done, and Wii is severly lacking exclusive games, yet it's still a Wii U title. There is also no reason not to localize The Last Story and XenoBlade, I mean MS localized Lost Odyssey, is NOA worse with JRPG's then Microsoft? it would seam MS is better at nowing there market then the ones that have been in the market 4 gens longer.
Ps brand is well known in US, especially the PS2, but the PS3 isn't as big as older PS's used to be. However things can change, what image did Nintendo have last gen (for consoles)? and it shot up to first! NES and SNES leaders. N64 and gamecube. well there were more consoles out but these were the last place consoles that mattered.
Nintendo was looked at as a kids console, the irony is it paidoff bigtime this gen.
For future sales, it doesn't really matter. Just like for cars, every year, every manufacturer see's improvement, and there is always something to look forward to. i'll tell you a breaf story. there i'm done!
now what part of that story mattered? o wait so your telling me there was no story? well let me put more words into it! did that help?
you see wht i did there? if i'm going to tell you something you'd expect me to say something right? well consoles are not cars so you can't compare them.
the improvements are seen in the form of new cars not consoles. for consoles thats a developers standpoint. its also an argument for future consoles not current ones.
future sells for cars only matter every yr when its a newone. PS3 being push'd into more teritories selling and making profit in the future is very important. if it sells takes no loss and makes money then its important cuase if tey didn't expect to make a profit then not one compny in this world would release a product in a contry they couldn't make a profit in.
