Halo Series

I can understand saying the series but you make it sound like Halo: CE wasn't a remarkable game.  It was, it pretty much changed the way we play FPS games.  You could argue that people have gone overboard copying it but that is hardly Bungie's fault (unless you want to fault them for making a game changing game).  Other than, the Halo games continue to get respected because they're extremely solid games.

Halo did change the face of FPS games...poorly.  before Halo there was no regenerating health, there was no weapon limitations, and they were mostly fun rather than trying to be serious and space-opera-ey.  I admit, the game worked REALLY well on the consoles and I'm actually glad it came out because I do enjoy an occasional FPS game, but it changed the genre in what I Feel was a bad way. I am not the only one.  Again, it's not a BAD series, but it's an 8/10 game getting 11/10 scores.  it's overrated. 

This isn't a question of whether you like Halo or not, it's a question of is this game overrated?

You're right that the things Halo did right is a bit overused today but, again, how is that Bungie's fault?  You'd think that if *everyone* is copying them then they must have done something right then?  Forget your personal preference and then tell me why everyone would chomp at the bit to copy them.  The game became so popular for a reason, it wasn't something like GTAIV, it was a brand new IP on a new platform.
