Not to be rude, but the "occupy" groups seem to be (at least publicly) mostly made up of "young adults" with entitlement issues and a very poor understanding of how the world/economy works. Their message seems to be a very diverse mess primarily because most of the movement doesn’t seem to have enough understanding to create a coherent message. Certainly, there is consistency across the group that their problems are the fault of corporations, but there doesn’t seem to be any explanation why it is these companies fault that individuals took on tens of thousands of dollars in debt to get an education they chose even though they were (probably) told by countless people that their degree would be worthless in the real world.

While I could be wrong, when I see politicians on the left trying to latch onto this group in hopes that it will become the tea-party of the left I think that their support of this will backfire on them. The reason for this is that, while they may not support the movement itself, a lot of the principles of the tea-party are fairly popular with independent voters and moderate supporters of both the democrats and republicans. In contrast, from what I have seen the "occupy" group’s overall message seems to run counter to what most independent voters or moderate supporters of the democrats and republicans are looking for.
