Crap, there seems to be no way to open the massive door on the Valley of the Drakes at this point of the game. Oh well, going to New Londo and the Sens.

I found a shortcut from New Londo Ruins to the Valley of the Drakes so there seems to be some connection between the two. In New Londo Ruins I found nothing but a Cleric and tons of Soul-less Ghosts (argggg) although I wasn't very thorough.

Yeah, I found that one two, it links Blightown, Valley of Drakes and New Londo. I found a Fire-Keeper soul (my third one) on New Londo, close to the Valley of Kings exit (on the watery part). 

I can't seem to find the shortcut back to Firelink though Do you have to activate the elevator on Firelink to be able to use it in New Londo? 

@Mad55 - I'm at Soul Level 52.

If I understand correctly, you can find a small passage going down near the Firelink Fire Keeper. Use the lever there to activate the elevator.

Yeah, I had found that one already but I didn't go down the elevator (I was informed of the ghosts so I didn't want to wander into new londo just then). I was just lost on New Londo on the other side of the map entirely (near the Spiral Staircase which needs a key to drain the water).
