sigh you see this is the issue and we are back at the same point..you are clueless about the game.

lol auto-correction. I won't go there. it's a different type of platforming..the focus and aim is different. doesn't mean it's 'inferior' to mario or anything for example. I for one don't really care for 2d platformers much yet have a lot of fun with 3d platforming like this. Like I said, it doesn't fit the 'mold' of a typical platformer, nothing more nothing less. If Uncharted gets the award for the platforming I would be surprised..critics would actually think outside of their stuck up boxes for a change, and not give into nostalgia and same old same old. but nah doubt that's ever gonna happen.

and I will tell you WHO you SHOULD trust. yourself. play the game and come back so you will actually know what you are talking about. Uncharted does a LOT of things so well and is up there with the best of the best. It is a jack of all trades..but also master of many.

about the tps goty bit..let me tell explain a few things to you. a lot of media outlets don't even do TPS GOTY award..most probably because there are very few games competing in the genre compared to fps. sites like gamespot just have a shooter goty. and also a lot of sites, in the nomination process, seems to be follow the rule of including games that they have categorized as belonging to that specific genre only. For example if they categorize the game 'A' as platformer, such games will be taken into consideration for the puzzle genre but not for the action genre even if the game is a mix of two. These things affect the genre goty awards.

thinking about it..what TPS games have you played? Uncharted is a TPS of the highest quality may it be the sp or the mp. I'm curious to see what kind of games you could compare it to IF you play the games in the future

man for a moment there I thought you tried to be witty and funny and failed..now you are failing at being serious! just give it a rest..play the games and come back and we can actually have a decent conversation about the pros and cons.

It may look like I put myself in a terrible position in this thread, but it's actually not that bad. The thing is you aren't any better than me. I could have played all relevant TPS in existence and we still couldn't have a decent conversation about the pros and cons of the Uncharted series. Why? Because you don't have enough experience with platformers.

Modern Tomb Raider and the Prince of Persia feature watered down platforming, casual platforming so to say. It's not just that the game automatically corrects the direction of your jump if you are somewhat off, but in many situations even the height and distance of your jumps are corrected by the game to make the character grab on to the next ledge, for example. You don't have to be precise at all, because the game does the actual work for you, whether you like it or not. This makes them inferior to actual platforming games which you tend to avoid. And because of this you think that the platforming in TR and PoP is actually good, because you just don't know any better.

As for the GotY awards: Yes, it's pretty obvious that a TPS award doesn't make much sense when GTA is among the nominees. But your example is baffling. A game categorized as platformer either goes into puzzle or action? That makes no sense at all. The category it goes in should obviously be platformers if it is a platformer.

LOL it kinda looks like morenoingrato was right..cuz surely this can't be serious. but its fine..I'm kinda bored now so I'll bite :D

you see, you are STILL in a terrible position. you said master of none yet you can't even name a single new TPS experiences yet alone have played the UC series...hence you talked out of your ass with nothing to back up your claim.

unlike you (it seems) I do play games from all genre and all systems..growing up platforming games were what I had to play the most :S I can't even remember the names but almost all past mario games, sonic games, R&C, Viewtiful Joe etc etc were some franchises I have played, from the top of my head. even this gen, i have played nsmb, Dk, LBP, shank, SMG1, R&C etc. I only have a ps3/psp/ds combo but I have access to wiis and 360s whenver I want them. hence I have played all Halo games and Gears 1 and 2 this gen. So I do have a good idea of what I'm talking about. not sure where this 'i tend to avoid' accusation comes from..out of your ass again I presume? or any proper reason why?

btw..have you even played GTA and POP games? the recent ones? cuz you CAN fall and they don't 'correct' your direction. you do need to time and precise. not even sure what you are talking about there. it's just different type of platforming with different aim. doesn't mean it's 'casual' geez >_>

your whole argument has fallen into a ok fine it might be master of somethings but im sure it's not for platforming but even that not sure cuz i have no clue about the franchise scenario. which is kinda sad..you should have just left it failing at being witty (you really should leave that to people like badgenome, lately you seem to try too hard). you have nothing to back up your original claim..and doubt you ever will.

oh and the example i used of xx game belonging to genre a and also b bit..don't take it too litterally. was just random genre i put there. i'm sure you are smart enough (hopefully) to get the point

i HOPE you would at least try and give a good proper answer to this with good to the point examples. if not, please don't waste time
