I'm not all that excited for CEA to be honest. I got Reach last year and played through the campaign a few times and dabbled in the online a bit. I haven't really touched it since as I've been working on a massive backlog and investing in my 3DS. With Skyrim coming out shortly before CEA, and me still having the original Halo I bought at the launch of the Xbox 10 years ago, it isn't a hugely interesting prospect for me. I'll definitely pick it up eventually but it's not something that I must get day one. As for Halo 4... I'm trying not to get excited for certain franchises as they've kinda let me down in more recent offerings. Reach was well polished, but the story-telling and characters and atmosphere didn't do it for me, besides the brilliant ending. ODST was the best Halo title for me this gen. Halo 3 promised waaaay more than it could ever hope to deliver and that marred my experience (outside of the music... Marty is a genius!). So I'm trying to stay reserved on Halo 4 until we learn more. ME is the other big franchise in this category. ME1 remains my favourite title this gen. ME2 was a let down in just about every department outside of presentation. So I'm being very reserved for ME3. I'm not even watching any media or keeping up with features. When launch gets closer I'll start digging and I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. |
The only Halo game I've played is Reach. I want to play Halo 3 but I can't bring myself to play an earlier game which would likely be inferior. I may give it a try listening to your comparison though.
