It’s not the same thing but a couple of years before I started in University the department of Computer Science dramatically lowered their standards and let in far more students because there was significant pressure to increase the number of graduates. The result they saw from this was that most of the people they let into the department had either failed out or switched degrees by the time they entered their third year.

I can't help but wonder what the graduation rate is of these less qualified applicants who were let into school based on their race. Based on their academic history one would expect them to be close to the bottom of their class and the most likely to fail out of school ...
