It was discussed before that the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV is at a stand-still because of RAM limitations. That's been talked about before on the forums from an interview on the FFXIV thread.
The only way that Square-Enix would fix this if they could allocate this RAM issue by making available GB space on the PS3's hard drive to use as RAM. You can already do this on the PC with virtual RAM.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the PS3 version of XIV is still under development. It's just not being released due to the game not being up to standards. They had stated that they didn't want to release it on PS3 in the games current condition. The PS3 copy is the only way they can rejuvenate the game. So they can't ship a broken game.

@Naraku: cant they just use a hard drive install to reduce ram needed to run the game. thats what i thought they did with rage (at leats i think it was rage) for the ps3 and xbox 360.
@Wagram: your response is more what i was looking for. do you know of any changes they made to fix this "broken" game?

Oh a lot of things. The game is actually a LOT better then it was at launch. The plan to add jobs, re design maps, add more content, continue to improve UIs and the such. If your interested this is a link to todays patch. Which if I must say is down right ridiculous: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/24910-patch1.19-Patch-1.19-Notes
I actually plan on doing an article of sorts in a week or so about why users should give XIV another shot. Hell it's still free so it can't hurt.
