It was discussed before that the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV is at a stand-still because of RAM limitations. That's been talked about before on the forums from an interview on the FFXIV thread.
The only way that Square-Enix would fix this if they could allocate this RAM issue by making available GB space on the PS3's hard drive to use as RAM. You can already do this on the PC with virtual RAM.
