Horrible article, but the point still remains....

Nintendo's customers are the ones who are most likely to flock towards phone/tablet games, and Nintendo will struggle to attract your typical Xbox/PlayStation buyer.

They have a lot of work to do.

Yup, this, Nintendo have a small dedicated userbase of probably under 20 million (at least for consoles) unless Nintendo came up with a console that hit it off like Wii again could they sustain generation after generation with a 20 mill userbase?

WiiU will do more than 20 mill for usre, it still has remenents of the wii, but they can't live off of that forever. Sony have a loyal market in EMEAA and Microsoft have Xbox Live in America, BOTH are stable and I don't care what anyone says it isn't 'all to play for' concerning those two in those regions.

LIVE is hard to chew through, certainly, though an inter-generational fault line is really the only time anyone can even try, but Sony's lead in EMEAA is mostly due to superior supplier relations in that area (where Nintendo especially has always had a diminished presence simply for a lack of having consoles available for sale), one that could be handily broken down were someone willing to try

Mostly, however, Nintendo can prosper so long as they actually remain in the multiplat loop this time (and third parties don't actively conspire to put them out of the loop as they did for no good reason other than spite in the GC days), and otherwise continue to chart the course that they did with the Wii. The masses of samey third party games can provide whatever it is the market's looking for that's distinct from what Nintendo themselves provide

Sony's lead in EMEAA is not 'mostly' down to superior supplier relations. The Sony brand is stronger in these areas and their product is more appealing to audiences there.

And, I disagree with the 2nd paragraph. If Microsoft and Sony come out with superior consoles, why is someone who is not a loyal Nintendo gamer going to buy the WiiU to play 3rd party games on?

I mostly agree with him on "Sony's lead in EMEAA is mostly due to superior supplier relations in that area".

Sony has invested a lot of money building up their supply links and are actively looking to exploit this even more in developing markets.

As a manufactuer of every kind of electronics these supply links are vital as well as their brand name. No one is stopping Nintendo (or MS for that matter) from making their own supply links - some might argue is it worth it to just sell consoles - in these areas.

This is Sony's strength and one that stands them in a strong position going forward. The ecomic balance of the world is changing and the companies that adapt best or are in a position to take advantage of these changes will be in good shape.

As for the article it is badly written in more ways than one.
