oh oh we are talking exorcisms?!
OP: the mom was psychotic. Yeah religion influenced her behavior ... and choice of words, but she was crazy :D and no matter what race or religion they belong to, crazy people do crazy stuff ... like murder.
Nice sensationalized title though.
Back to exorcisms! As fascinating as I find the stories about Jin, I've never actually seen a possessed person or an exorcism my time in the mid east. And all the city stories I've heard, you'd think I'd eventually see one. When I look back at my 13-sh years there, I only remember hearing so many stories ... urban legends if you will, about neighborhood people being possessed. It was like that awesome-scary story to tell. You would be walking with your middle school buddies at night and one of them would point to a house and say, "dude, the guy who lives there, you never see him because he was possessed by a jin last year." Even the grown ups at the hookah bars would have their own version or stories. Honestly, now that I've grown up, I'm starting to think it was this myth that was so strong because of religious beliefs that people started to believe stories associated with bits and parts of Islam that it became believable... if that makes sense.
Yes I am a muslim, and yes I believe that there are angels and devi... er jins. But not once did I come across a verse in the Quran that mention Jin capable of physically possessing people. Not even in hadeeth.
I am the black sheep
