I'm studying physics in the university. Does this mean my syllabus will finally change after so many decades?

The syllabus has been changing every few years. As soon as you finish the basics i.e. Classical Mechanics, SR, GR, EM etc. all you get to the recent developments.

Recent developments are built on these older foundations. Therefore you have no chance in hell to follow what's going on now if you don't understand those things.

Your tone is rather comic I must say.
