Yup, but this is more of a demo since they have hardly any dev time left, 2 weeks at most.
Gears of war 3 or uncharted 3 had "real" betas, they came out several months before the release date so the devs would have a lot of time to fix bugs and tweak gameplay. If the BF3 beta was the latest code and DICE only had 2 weeks to fix it, I'd be very worried, but since it's old code and DICE have had months to work on it I'm pretty confident it'll mostly be fixed by release. :)
