Well designed nes games were not hard.

True mainly the poorly designed games were the hardest.  However, I can think of a few well designed NES games that were pretty difficult.  For instance... Ninja Gaiden.  While it isn't incredibly hard for most of the game just wait till Area 6-2 and it will kick your ass.
