your opinion, imo games had them before gears and would have continued to incorporate them regardless of if gears existed or not

Well do me a favor. Humor me. Gears 2 brought the Horde in November 2008. Which game had an online team of five (give or take) working together to survive an ever increasing group of enemies that grow stronger and stronger as the level increases. Teamwork is the key--comuincating with your friends, distributing weapons, and leveling up are also important.
Maybe some games got the mode because it was popular in Gears 2. Maybe some games (ie: Call of Duty World at War) were going to have them, anyway. It's a simple theme, actually. Any one of us could have come up with it. But which game had it before Gears?

wow i really don't believe that people think that coop gameplay against waves of enemies is something new these types of gameplay have been around since the first consoles were out

none of them did it as good as gears. If it was around why dind't peopel use them? Gears has influenced more games this gen than any other game. I can't believe you mentioned a terrible game like OUTFIT.
