spot on amaral. a price cut isn't measured in shorterm but rather long term. it may have had a huge impact in the begigning, but Sony is looking for it to be just as affective during the Nov. and Dec. which just happen to be the biggest months of the yr.
OP: look for the price cut to float PS3 sells through the spring and summer months in 2012.
and as always FFXIII-2 will boost sells for both consoles but most notably for PS3.
they will need another price cut next yr to counter MS price cut, and Halo4. but in saying that not much is known about the Sony camp next yr but i've already counted 6 exlcusives IP.
right now the battle/sells boost for the yr stackes up as follows.
UC3 (PS3) 500k-1m first wk
Battlefield (PS3/360) toss up
Halo anniversary (360) don't see it helping much, but i'm looking to be surprised.
COD MW3 (360/PS3) 360 favored
Bundles will be big but no telling how big. if MS out sells Sony this holiday season (2011cause its possible) there fiscal yr end is in jeopardy, but Jan. and March will play there final roles in Sony securing the win for the 2011 fiscal yr.

the 200k boost GEARS gave 360 only countered one of Sonys 2 200k wks. they'll need to counter the other serveral 160+k wks to take Sony out.
