It's certainly possible, but to make an accurate comparison (based on what we've heard about Wii U), the Xbox 360 launched with pricier tech in relation to 2005 than Wii U is launching with in relation to 2012.  While Xbox 360 sold at a pretty big loss, the "core" console launched for only $299, with DVD playback and no HDD.  That's why it's completely reasonable to me that Wii U (with no movie playback and no HDD), could very well launch at $299 if Nintendo were willing to take a small loss (as they currently are with 3DS).

$299 would already be the most expensive Nintendo system ever, but I agree that as high as $349 is a possibility.  Definitely not more than that, though.

I agree that 300-350 $/€ seems to be the logical spot. Let's hope they also include a game.
