I honestly don't think they will bother with either new IP or sequel to a cherished old IP when trotting out Gears, Halo, and Fable seems to be doing just fine for them sales wise. What could change things is if 1. Halo sales fall off 2. Gears goes multi cutting into sales 3. Fable continues to degrade in quality and fails to sell. A combination of these could really push them to create new IP's.
As of right now though, I am not sure if I even want another Banjo Kazooie or Killer Instinct since they would probably just turn them into some generic Kinect game.
