I have to say I think they are absolutely retarded dicks for not putting a pause button in TBH.
That is the thing I hate most about these games because I have to pause games quite often to do other things or because i'm interrupted.

To be fair, I don't really see how Demon's/Dark Souls could incorporate a pause feature, given the unique nature of their online play. The only time it could work is if you play disconected from the server.

It works just like any other multiplayer game, for eg halo. If you play halo mp then you can't pause. But if you play the sp you can.
In demon's souls you can't pause in either. Sometimes another player from another world can invade your game. If he invades then you can't do anything. You have to fight or switch off your ps3 or eject your disc.
Imagine you are playing Mass effect and while you are on Omega suddenly a collector appears out of nowhere, controlled by another human. That is how a demon's souls mp works lol. If you pause he can kill you. This only doesn't happen when you are fighting a boss or when you are in the hub called nexus.

I've never seen anyone invade my world when me or my cousin have played it. How do you invade other peoples world?

You kill one of the many AI black phantom and get a black stone. I don't remember the exact name.
You equip that stone and then use that stone by pressing square I think.
Then you leave it starts searching for another player who is comparable to your level, +/- 10. Once it finds, you invade their game.
Then you kill them, and snatch their soul. This doesn't happen to people who are in soul form and you can only invade other games in soul form. Its a way to get your body back without killing a boss.
