I wonder sometimes if it's not considered a rite of passage into gaming journalism to predict doom and gloom for the company that's currently top dog... Or perhaps it's just a case of "any attention is good attention". Whatever it may be, naysayers have been predicting the fall of successful consoles ever since the Atari first came out. Ultimately they're right about the system eventually giving in (since no console has ever lasted longer than about 10 years before getting phased out entirely), but their reasoning and arguments always fall short of reality, and their estimates of when a system is going to boom or spell doom tend to be way off.
