I don't think 3D games will reach 1080p just yet next gen.

I am pretty sure you meant consoles only.

But i case you didn't, Nvidia 3DVision supports 5760x1080 in 3D using 3 3D displays.

Just sayin' :)

Yeah consoles only. 1080p60 x 2 for 3D is 9x the pixels of 720p30 which consoles are struggling with now.

Does using mutiple displays work with 3D glasses? Do the 3D graphics line up? It will be a while before 5760x1080 panoramic 3D VR glasses. Can't wait to try a set of those though :)

There already are 1080p VR headsets available with see trough video and headtracking options, for example http://www.sensics.com/products/xSight/xsight-overview.php?gclid=CPLRodL5s6sCFYYUKgodtCy9eA but it will cost you $39,000

3D Surround how its called does work great...if you have the hardware needed. Preffered is tri GTX 570 SLI or dual 580s with another dedicated GPU for Physics.

I have tried monitors but at 23 inches they don't do it for me. Too small and can't be enjoyed fromt he couch.

I need this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wMBS_bfkFk&feature=player_detailpage#t=340s

On a slightly curved screen, with true 1080p 3D projectors (don't exist yet) this will be king.

I am basically waiting to buy a house with enough room for this, while I research how to build a curved screen myself and wait for Acer, Optoma or whoever to get off their ass and give us a non HDMI 1.4 true 1080p 3D@60 per eye projector. Hopefully these things will all allign around same date... :)

As far as that headset, for some reason they don't interest me. You can't invite friends over and brag about your HMD VR headset, even if you spend 39,000 dollars on it :)

That looks pretty awesome on you tube but it's not for me. The transitions between the screens would slowly drive me crazy and I will be spending all my time trying to chroma match and line up the 3 projectors. I used to have a CRT projector before I went LCD and keeping the red/green/blue tubes perfectly lined up was a constant battle.

The other problem I have with these setups is it never looks good when you turn. That's probably where the need for a curved screen comes in.

Inviting friends over becomes overrated by the time you can afford all that stuff. With all my friends, myself included, having families by now and living spread out over the world that pretty much never happens anymore. But you're right, when I was fresh out of university and bought a 2nd CRT projector we used all the time, while the 3D glasses were try once, put away again. I was living in Amsterdam at the time so there were much better alternatives available for enhanced 3D. Great times :)

Nowadays I game more while sitting behind a pc monitor with a baby on my lap while it's my wife's turn for sleep. The irony to finally have the space and resources to build an awesome home theater but no matter the sound proofing, running it at full force is only possible when I have the house to myself.

Anyway I'm also waiting for a good 3D projector, hopefully available before the 2nd lamp on my current one burns out. And my next pc better support 5.1 / 7.1 over HDMi, biggest diappointment this gen for me finding out it's limited to stereo over hdmi and optical s/pdif.

In the mean time that new gadget has my name written all over it. It will be perfect for games like flower, journey, child of eden. Please GT5 patch in headtracking support for this.
