While your OP certainly shows you have a bias against Apple, I think it is very interesting and I will definitely have to watch and see how this unravels. VIA is also a well respected hardware developer its got some clout to it, I'm not sure it can have a fair fight against Apple but hey when your technology has been stolen or used by another company then you should definitely pursue legal action.
However I doubt VIA will try to get Apple to pull these products like Apple did to Samsung. VIA will likely demand a share of the proceeds from Apple's products. Also why did it take VIA so long to file I mean if I-Pod's and all those devices infringed why did they wait till now? I am guessing they wanted Apple to be successful so that they would win more.
In all honesty some patents are way to wide scale. I don't see how for example their can be all these 1080p HD-TV's wouldn't they infringe on each other's patents? I mean HD itself wasn't that invented by someone how can everyone use it? I gotta admit I don't understand the whole patent process.
I understand copy rights and trade marks but how can all these companies launch such similar products without violating one anothers patents. How could their be all these tablets on the market right now that are so much alike in every way yet not violate each others patents? Maybe if I go back to University and get a business degree like I had thought of doing then I'd learn a bit more about this stuff.
