I responded without reading any of the rest of the thread. Looks like I missed something. Anyway, let us know what you think. I personally expect you to be totally lost when it comes to Halo Reach (just like I was lost when it came to Killzone 3). It's a long running series with a lot of backstory and, despite it being a prequel, expect to have no idea what's going on.
Plus, I see quite a few 360 games in your sig (I assume they're games you've played). What's up with that?
Also, if you plan to get Gears 3, play Gears 1 and 2 first. Yes, they're older games but they hold up very well. The story is the big draw for me and it carries over from one game to another as opposed to a series like Uncharted where each installment's story holds up on its own. You'll ruin the story for yourself. You wouldn't try to get into Star Wars by starting with Return of the Jedi, would you?
