| EGG_OF_D00m said: well ebgames are having a special, a 250gb xbox 360 slim with kinect gears 3 kinect adventures and a controller, and it's a really great deal but the problem is xbox live' it cost $90 and then i will have to buy new games for it and it will all add up, all my friends have a playstation except for 1 so that is another setback and i have an elite right now with a few games but tbh the elite is booring what's the point of no wifi so i could sell that and take $150 of it which would take it to $230. i need to know a few things first. is kinect good? i have a psmove atm but it's pretty lackluster with no games 2nd. is live worth it? and how much different is it from psn 3rd. is gears and halo good? [my main reasons that i want the system] i really need to know from personal experiences is it worth it or am i to late. |
I don't know all the pricing in Australia. So I'm guessing 90$ is for the 12 month subscription. In U.S. its $60, but I can always get them cheaper on Amazon.com and other various sites. Recently I found a deal that got me a 12 month subscription for $35. 42% off!
I got my slim console last year and I love the built in WiFi. Plus it has extra USB ports. It also powers the kinect without having to have a power cord to an outlet directly from the kinect, which you would need with your Elite.
1. Kinect: You will get different opinions from everyone. In my opinion I really enjoy Kinect. It currently doesn't have a very big library of game and half of the games are meh. Some of them I consider very fun like: Kinect Sports, Child of Eden, Dance Central, Fruit Ninja along with a few others. There will be more games coming out this fall/early next year that use Kinect that look like will add quite a bit to the game. Some of those include Forza Motorsports 4, Mass Effect 3, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Kinect Sports Season 2, and some others. You also can use it for motion controls to watch movies, navigate kinect dashboard, ect.
So all in all Kinect use appears like it will get better with time. I think its best use is as an addative feature to games rather than games only playable with Kinect.
2. Again its about personal preference. I enjoy Xbox Live more for the cross game chat/Xbox Live party chat, community feel, interesting adds, Last.FM, ect. One nice thing about Xbox Live Gold is that at least they offer deals every week on content for being a gold member. Of course PSN plus offers deals on content as well. PSN Plus is free so that is a big factor they have going for them. In the end its personal preference. to me finding a deal around $40 (U.S.) a year is worth it to use the features of Xbox Live Gold.
3. Both are great, Yes! If you really love shooters then you need to play both of those franchises. They are a great deal of fun. You also said you like Racing. Forza would be a great game to try out as well especially Forza 4 with the improvements and Kinect usage addition.
These are my own opinions. I'm sure there are plenty of other people on this site that would say just stick with PSN. I will say it sounds like a lot of your friends just use PS3 for gaming so that is something you need to consider. I hope I was able to help from my experience.
