Ninty did not want to use any kind of optical disc period. I was just using CDs as an example. They have stated more than once that cartridges were the way to go. Well, they must have changed their mind on that at some point.

As for online, Iwata said that the online gaming will go away, and considering how popular online games are, (hello COD) he was dead wrong. Or they wouldnt be trying on make the online for Wii U and 3DS much better than it was on Wii and DS

The 64DD used magneto-optical discs. Why do you refuse to check out the link I posted? Since the 64DD was announced in November 2005 (before the PS1 took off), Nintendo didn't change their mind at any point. They had their plan to not use CDs and they never did use them. You can't say that Nintendo was completely against optical media when the 64DD was planned to use it all along. They were only against one specific kind of optical media and that was CD-ROMs.

Regarding online, Iwata did not say that. Why do you refuse to check out the link I posted? You are completely ignoring the context of the time when Iwata said what he said. In 2002/03, the industry was excited about online and declared that it would become a really big thing in the latter half of the sixth generation. In 2004 Iwata said (in response to why the Gamecube won't get online enabled games from Nintendo) that this is not going to happen and pointed to the lack of success of online enabled games on the whole while games without any online functionality were still selling as great, if not better, as before. He said interest in making online games will cool down and it did. Online gaming never really took off in the sixth generation. All you've really got is Halo 2 on the Xbox, but that was a niche market compared to what the PS2 pulled off without any notable help from online enabled games.

Iwata also said at the same time that he doesn't rule it out that Nintendo will make use of online functionality in the future, but as of now (mid 2004) the market isn't ready for it yet, because connection speeds are still lacking.

If you want to stick to both of your claims, then you better provide sources that confirm your point of view. As of right now, you are just talking about what you want to believe regardless of the facts.

64DD, ill concede to that point, about them just not liking CDs.

Online, Iwata never said our customers dont care about online? Customers do not want online games, thats what was said in Feb 2005 im staring at the damn  GI magazine as i type it. That same year xbox 360 was released, and we all know how their online went. Lets keep it real, Iwata was wrong, the 2004 statement was made a year prior to the 360 releasing, the man thought that online would not take off as it did, he was wrong. Do you honestly believe he was referring to GC in 2004?? That system was already on its way out, Iwata thought the online would be a fad other wise he would have made damn sure the WiiWare didnt suck as bad as it does
