Jesus, his statement was taken out of context completely.

First he always says that knows nothing about technology or electronics manufacturing, but he understands (supposedly) business models and how the market works.
Thus, within the context of the answer he was going it meant that the WiiU is not a next-generation consoles, which will only be released there around 2014.

A) Your proof that the Wii U is not an eigth generation console is... where?

B) If you're only argument that the Wii U is only capable of 1080p, then you need to check up more on your moden day highest resolutions.  Yes, there is higher resolutions than 1080p, but virtually no affordable TVs support them.  Not to mention the fact that standards for TV resolutions is not higher than 1080p under any circumstance in this current modern-day.  If you really need more 'information' about this, then take a gander at this link.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution

C) And where is the proof that they said neither of the consoles will be out till 2014?  I doubt Sony nor Microsoft, want Nintendo to get a two year jump on the next console race.

Who?
