I hardly buy many games on launch anyway. Usually I'm either renting or waiting for good deals. Heck, I rented and completed Resistance 3 the weekend after it launched and was kind of glad I didn't buy it for $60. As for deals, a game like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 I bought during Steam's winter sale for $6-7 and it was well worth it.
Besides, with more and more DLC nickel and diming, FPS games trying to be more and more like Call of Duty as well as not being as satisfied with the big games, I'd rather rent or wait for a great deal than buy a game for $50-60. I think Portal 2 was the last $50-60 new game that I bought back in April.
