Almost everything is doomed these days.

True, XIII received mixed reviews but it still sold 6.2 million and it is still going. XIII-2 is coming and i think we are curious to not only how it will turn out, but how well it is going to sell.

FFXIV PC had a failed launch. But Square said they have been working on some patch that will revamp the whole game. It's a mmo, and they need the revenue. In addition, the PS3 version has yet to release. How well will it sell? Well, its a FF on Playstation, though mmo, it will still push enough copies/subscriptions to keep Square happy enough. Even though XIV missed its potential, it still has a chance to be financially successful, or break even. Not sure how much they have lost to date.

Final Fantasy Type 0. I believe this game is being made by the team that made Crisis Core. Even though it was announced in 2006, that should explained why the game has lagged it to be finished. Plus, its a two UMD game, that shouldn't make fans complain. However, it should be interesting to see if it comes to the West for PSP or for Vita, or maybe even Vita/PS3. The point is, in Japan this can push 1m to 1.5m if Square does right. Depending on platform in the West, this can certainly pull another 1.5m+ . Hardly a failure.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII. I'm not sure why this game has taken so long to finish. That gives people the suspicion that it may also release on xbox. I believe it will release in 2012, but it also seems unlikely due to other FF games releasing the same year. I don't think Square would crowd them together. XIII has sold more than 4.5m on PS3; if Versus receives great reviews, and slap on "makers of Kingdom Hearts" this can sell 5m+ plus lifetime. Hardly a failure.

Final Fantasy X Remake. I know fans have been crying for a VII remake, but be happy that X is coming. However, its weird that Square just did't go with an HD collection, and instead a remake for Vita/PS3. Also, leaving out the xbox after making XIII multiplat. Hype will help this sell well. I'm predicting 5-6m combined sales from Vita/PS3. Again, hardly a failure.

As you see, i fail to see how Square is killing FF. I think it's just fans overreacting from disappointment from XIII and XIV.

It's amazing to me that people still think FFXIV is going to turn out to be anything other than a complete failure.  First off, no patch will ever save it.  Not even the FF name can save that game.  It had one of the worst launches ever.  That game was such a dissapointment it put Spore to shame.  It was broken, boring, and unfinished.  The reviews are in and no matter what they're there.  People keep clinging to hope it's going to get some miracle patch but the game is just bad.  I've been reading the updates on the game as they happen because I would love for it to be good, but it's just not going to happen.

The game already has a terrible word of mouth and it's never going to measure up to any of the already much better MMO's out there.  It does nothing better than any game or even as well as any other game.  It's competing in a killer flooded market and they put out an unpolished turd.  There's not much coming back from that.  Even with their great idea of allowing you to change your class on the fly was already outdone by Rift.

You're also talking about it breaking even?  That game has been in developer for, what, five years?  And now they're completely remaking it?  And they haven't collected a penny on subscriptions?  No, they're never going to make money on it.  It's baffling that they're even still trying to keep it up.

I'll be incredibly surprised if the PS3 version ever even releases and the servers are still running by the end of next year.
