HD-DVD works on regular DVD players as a regular DVD too so you're not required to buy a new player, thus allowing for a smooth transition of the market.

LMFAO

ohh damn i had to quote this, its just to much BAhhahahahaahhahaha. The anti sony sentaments on this forum are just wow.

Ummm, wow, someone sucks at life. Next time you make fun of someone, have some remote idea of what there talking about. Most HD-DVDs do work with regular players as well.

"a double-sided, dual-layer hybrid ROM disc comprised of dual-layer HD DVD-ROM side and dua-layer DVD-ROM side. The hybrid disc can store 30GB of high-definition content on the HD DVD-ROM side and 8.5GB of standard-definition content on the DVD-ROM dual layer side.

The standard definition content of the new hybrid discs can be replayed on these platforms, while their owners will also be able to enjoy high-definition content from the same source when they purchase HD DVD players in the future. The new disc further prepares the way for a smooth transition from DVD to HD DVD."

It's a fantastic idea for those who want to start buying next gen movies but can't afford the player yet. Why buy a regular DVD of a movie you want to watch right now knowing that next year you're buying an HDTV?

Anyway, this whole thread is massivly bias. I mean Blu-Ray is winning the battle right now. Congrats.

Personally I was rooting for HD since I thought it pretty lame of Sony to have to resort to using their Playstation brand and all its fans to try and win the battle. It was a smart buisness move, knowing the PS3 would sell millions and thus giving Blu-Ray the upper hand, but it seems kinda sordid of them to use the fans of their gaming department like that. Oh well, gotta hand it to them in the end I guess, lol

LMFAO

no HDdvd movie will work on a regular player.  The combo hddvd/dvd has already been caned by Warner.

How is it bias, its FACTS.   But it does expose the ignorance of Sony haters, some of these comments are just wow.
