well I'm pretty sure they are not doing that alone.... they probably will do it with a proven manufacturer but stilll.... it's gonna be a pain in the ass for them to market..... since gamestop is not in every country.... and I don't see how tablets right now can become the standard for anything (cellphone/laptop/gaming) at that price tag with that sub par quality and capabilities I don't see how... my 4 year laptop does better than any tablet for gaming surfing working communicating and is cheaper.... I don't see it replacing cellphones.... and well gaming is anybody here feeling like any tablet out there or yet to come can come anywhere close to what nintendo or sony can provide you with right now ???? (cause we all agree by now that tablet is a competitor to handheld but nowhere close to a home console) |
Well, Gamestop's tablet will be used for nothing but games, according to the OP, so they can concentrate on nothing but that. That means they don't have to worry about anything else that other tablets have. Will games require the controller or will games also have touchscreen controls? If only the former, then it will be awkward to play in public places. I don't think it will have a big effect over the handheld market, because the 3DS and Vita will most likely be much better gaming platforms.
I think tablets might get big, but Apple has a monopoly on them for the most part and they charge a crapload for them. My cousin just got an iPad2 for use in school (his laptop is huge), and he loves the thing. I think tablets offer a much more portability over something like a laptop, which is probably the biggest selling point, even if it can't do as much as a laptop.
