Why do publishers and developers show obvious favor to Sony?

simple question.. through PS1 PS2 and Even PS3 age SONY goes out of there way help promote 3rd party publishers. SONY helped EA with Madden, SE and EVERYTHING they did( even save them) Capcom an RE series, somehow some way has helped most of the big parties in some way in the past.
