Unless they changed their ways from the last time you checked the site, and assuming they are telling the truth about how they get their information, the numbers aren't very far off.

The logic is there since nearly every 360 tends to end up sold, the number shipped gives a close estimate to the real numbers.

They also update the numbers every-so-often te keep the numbers from getting to far off.

 

For god sake the site has an auto-updater, if you sit there and watch it long enough the numbers update on their own by ones, twos and threes. How fucking acurate is that?

 

I know; I've watched it.  The numbers aren't accurate; and neither are VG or NPD. 

I think the whole idea of it is to give you a fair estimate of what to expect,  then you can go to something like VG or NPD later in the week to get a more accurate #; or at least thats what I get out of it.
