Dunno. I never felt a DS/PSP games I played needed it, I don't see why Vita/3DS need one but it wouldn't hurt. Not having one and then making that retarded peripheral is stupid though. It's optional though so whatever.
I dont think they need, having them doesnt hurt, adding one late is stupid.
